LONG ISLAND CARES, INC.
THE HARRY CHAPIN FOOD BANK IS ROLLING OUT SOMETHING NEW
AT 10:30 AM ON TUESDAY, MARCH 16, 2010, THAT WE THINK
YOU'RE GOING TO WANT TO SEE
We've all read the stories and
heard the reports about the increase in the number of
Long Islanders turning to pantries and soup kitchens for
assistance. We also know that government funding for
hunger relief is being cut across New York State and in
Washington at a time
when MORE
people need our help.
Now, with
the support of private contributions, Long Island Cares
will roll out an innovative concept to provide MORE
to those on Long Island that have less.
MORE
information to follow shortly.

About Long Island Cares, Inc.
Long Island Cares, The Harry Chapin Food Bank is a
leading anti-hunger organization and Long Island's
First Food Bank: Serving the Hungry on Long Island
since 1980. Long Island Cares brings together all
available resources for the benefit of the hungry on
Long Island and provides emergency food where and
when it is needed, and sponsors programs that help
families achieve self-sufficiency. The organization
was founded in 1980 by the late singer/activist
Harry Chapin in response to the immediate needs of
hungry Long Islanders. It is continued today by his
wife and partner Sandy Chapin, a dedicated Board of
Directors and talented staff working out of their
35,000 square foot facility in Hauppauge. Long
Island Cares is a member agency of the Food Bank
Association of New York State and Feeding America.
